GPR Scanning Of Concrete In Miami, Florida

GPR Scanning of Concrete in Miami, Florida

GPR Scanning Services, LLC completed GPR scanning of concrete in Miami, Florida. A renovation at a local mall required using ground penetrating radar to inspect the concrete slab prior to saw cutting. The plumbing contractor was responsible for moving existing sanitary and plumbing lines to the new design plan. The contractor was able to layout the new trench areas prior to the concrete scanning. GPR Scanning Services, LLC was able to scan the concrete slab to locate conduit in and directly below the concrete. The technician used 2700MHz ground penetrating radar with LineTrac to scan the trench areas. The located conduits were marked directly on the surface with approximate depths. A utility wand was used to detect any live power in the trench areas. Numerous conduits were located during the service along with a spread footer near an existing support column. Based on the information obtained during the concrete inspection, the contractor was able to move the trench outside of the footer and miss damaging any existing conduits during saw cutting. The concrete imaging technology helps to keep workers safe on-site while eliminating potential damage to vital utilities. GPR imaging uses electromagnetic pulses to locate anomalies in the sub-surface. These electromagnetic pulses are displayed on a screen for interpretation by the technician. The technician can determine rebar, wire mesh, post-tension cables, and conduits based on the GPR images. No extra processing time is needed and a 2′ x 2′ area can be scanned and located within 15 minutes. The quick processing time makes GPR an affordable option. Ground penetrating radar can also be used to scan walls and columns to locate and to verify spacing and depth of the reinforcing steel.
