Scan And Locate An Area With GPR

Scan and Locate an Area with GPR

GPR Scanning Services, LLC was contacted by a local engineering company to scan and locate an area with gpr prior to the installation of two new monitoring wells at a former gas station site in the St. Cloud, Florida area. The customer was looking to install the monitoring wells within 10 feet of the historical monitoring locations without damaging any subsurface utilities in the process. Additionally, there was a newly-installed stormwater infiltration gallery located within the scan area and very close to the historical monitoring wells. GPR Scanning Services, LLC was able to quickly locate the safest locations for the new underground installations through the use of a 400MHz ground penetrating radar antenna with cart and a utility locator wand. The utility wand was used to detect live power in the area and tone onto the existing site lighting. With the GPR unit and utility locator, the entire area is scanned in a grid pattern to ensure complete coverage. The use of both applications enabled the customer to safely avoid hitting any utilities and prevent unnecessary damage to the site. The utility findings were marked on the ground surface with spray paint. Upon completion of the service, the results were then further discussed with the customer, making sure to detail the limitations of the equipment, scan area and to highlight the boundary where the stormwater system was located with the ground penetrating radar unit. The customer was instructed to stay 24″ away from all markings. Because the technician marks directly onto the surface in real-time, the customer was able to clearly see where to drill to install the new wells without damaging anything under the surface.
